In The co-main event, Soto & Matthysse also put on a show. Soto started early as he put together beatiful combinations on Matthysse. The fight brought in back & forth action as well, as Soto & Matthysse lived up to the hype. Matthysse began landing big shots to the body & head of Soto that proved to wear down the Mexican fighter. Matthysse landing a huge right cross that staggered Soto to the ropes and ultimately to the canvas as the bell to the 5th round came to a close. Soto would beat the count, but once in his corner, they decided to put an end to the fight, as Soto could not continue, due to Matthysse's damaging power. Great Junior Welterweight action indeed, where Lucas Matthysse now sets himself up for a possible championship title fight.
This past Saturday proved that despite controversial decisions, boxing can survive by having fighters step in the squared circle and perform to their best abilities to give that fans a great show, and that what all the boxers on this card did, their were no fights that went the distance. Each fight ended in a KO or TKO that had the fans at Staples Center enjoying every minute of it. It was a great night of boxing indeed.
