Erik "El Terrible" Morales vs Danny "Swift" Garcia was supposed to be for Morales's 140 lb. title, but when Morales tipped the scale 2 pounds over the 140 lb. limit, his title became vacant. Now, only Garcia can win the title if he defeats the ring legend in Morales. This fight will be the classic, future hall-of-famer, Morales vs rising young star, Garcia. Morales plans to "school" the young 24 year old Garcia, with not only technique but with an old fashioned butt whooppin'. Garcia must rely on his technique & speed to get past Morales's for sure onslaught of combinations to the head & body. Should be interesting to see if the old ring legend in Morales can beat up the young and spirited Garcia.
In The Undercard of Morales v Garcia, James "The Warrior Dingo" faces Carlos Molina, in what stacks up to be a fascinating fight. Kirkland is coming off his huge win over Alfredo Angulo, where he survived a knockdown & onlaught by "El Perro" Angulo. Kirkland turned the tables to punish Angulo in an all out brawl that Kirkland got the better of. Molina has been on the shelf for about a year now coming off a victory versus Kermit Cintron in Carson, CA. It's going to be interesting to see if Molina can withstand Kirkland's ruthless pressure & find a way to counter his overwhelming onslaught. Molina seems like he can survive a few Kirkland rounds, knowing the he has a good chin to take some shots, but how much pressure from Kirkland can he take. Molina doesn't seem to be a technician on the ring, turning this fight into a potential barn burner, in which Kirkland is custom to. We may be in for a treat with this one folks!
It all happens tonight, live from Houston on HBO at 7:15 PM PT, don't miss it!
