Fight Review: Rios v Alvarado II

In the anticipated rematch between Brandon Rios and Mike Alvarado, unfinished business was at hand.
From the opening bell, both fighters went at it with their back and forth, give and take action.  But in the second round, after their continued back and forth action, Rios hurt Alvarado with a rare lunging jab that wobbled Alvarado.  Rios continued to apply pressure to Alvarado with uppercuts and looping right and left hooks from Rios.  Alvarado survived the round by fighting back and matching Rios's offensive assault with an assault of his own to cap an exciting second round.  In the third round, Alvarado would land a few overhand right hooks, one in particular that wobbled Rios and encouraged Alvarado to bring a barrage of punches to capitalize on a huge third round for him.  From that point on Alvarado began to box beautifully against Rios, sticking and moving and picking his spots on when to come in and trade with Rios.  Brandon could not find an answer to Alvarado's boxing display, in where Alvarado would occasionally switch to a south paw stance, throw effective right hooks and continue to move and keep Rios off balance.  Rios would not go out without his occasional big shots, but Alvarado managed to take them and give them right back to Rios.  It was a close fight, but Alvarado distanced himself in the last 3 rounds winning them outright with a great display of boxing skills that many experts didn't think he would continue on through the duration of the fight.  In the end, Alvarado would get his revenge by winning a unanimous decision, by scores of 115-112(twice) and 114-113.  The table is now set for a grudge match in an expected trilogy between these 2 warriors, let's see it again, why not.
