Brandon Rios v Yurokis Gamboa was supposed to be an interesting matchup, but for an unexplained reason, Gamboa decided to ditch the April 14th, 2012 meeting between the two at Mandalay Bay in Vegas. During the first press conference, Gamboa left Rios hanging in his own backyard of Miami, Fl, eventually backing out of the fight altogether. It was during that press conference where an altercation between Rios & boxer Richard Abril occured that has now set up a fight between these two. It seemed a bit staged to me, especially now that they are matched up together to fight Apr. 14th. But nevertheless, there will be a fight.
This is slated to be my first Vegas boxing match that I will attend. Recently, it has been announced that this fight, along with the great Juan Manuel Marquez vs Ukranian Sergey Fedchenko, will be part of a split-site Pay Per View presented by Top Rank. Mike Alvarado will also be in action in Vegas. What seemed to be another cancelled card for me, has now turned into a possible great night in boxing, & I'm totally looking foward to being there in person to take in my 1st official boxing match.
